Their information promotes safe and efficient navigation. Charts must be carried on commercial ships that carry America’s commerce. They are used on every Navy and Coast Guard ship, fishing and passenger vessels and are also used by recreational boaters.

Sound Off – Sound Signals for Boaters
The official rules of the road for boaters (COLREGS) require that most boats carry sound producing devices like a horn or whistle to signal intent or warning when maneuvering or when in condition of reduced visibility. Vessels longer than 65 feet must also carry bell and other signal devices.
